Nothing new

I haven’t been changing this website. That is okay. The photo of the Eifel Tower taken from Sacré Coeur has been removed so the page loads faster.

Italy photos

I have been working through my photos in iPhoto. This year, I carried a gps data logger so I have a gps path to accompany the photos. However, being the Apple fan boy that I am, all of this data may be more than the Apple base can support. Perhaps this would not be such a problem on the PC or Windows side, but for me it is.

I have looked at several programs. This is what works. With my GPS, I use their interface to download the data from the logger, i-Blue 747. This is a PC program and I download the kml log file that I can open in Google Earth. This is something that works. If you set the pointer to coordinates in Google Earth, you can drag a photo taken at that location to the application Geotagger and Geotagger will add the GPS data to the photo. It then import that photo into iPhoto, it will have the GPS coordinates included. However, that can be tedious because this is being done by hand.

There are other programs that can apply the GPS data to photos that can be done more automatically, one I have looked at is GPSPhotolinker. However, I had trouble with this program, but I think I can overcome what errors I had. I just successfully batch converted 92 photos. Those I checked their locations looked reasonably accurate. The other program I was looking at was HoudahGeo. It was very Mac like in its interface, but I could not link photos to their proper locations.

Finally, for fun, I have "enhanced" a few photos. They are in the "Artsy Fartsy" gallery. The title should tell you all you need to know.

Welcome to my new domain

This is my more general domain. I don't have any special plans for it. It will be interesting to see whether it takes on an identity. For now, it is the source for some selected photo albums.
